Let’s dive into the mindset habits of millionaires. How were they able to build, grow, and maintain great wealth?

BTW, if you don’t know me yet – Hi I’m Bri! I’ve been a personal accountant to wealthy families in Silicon Valley for the last 15-ish years.

I’m currently obsessed with helping women build whole-person wealth (basically financial freedom + personal fulfillment + zero hustle culture) and if that’s your thing, I’d love it if you stuck around at the Candlelight Collective!

Back to the topic on hand – my wealthy clients’ mindsets – I am in the thick of my multi-millionaire clients’ finances every single day.

I pay their credit cards, run their payroll, send their charity checks, track the construction costs of their vacation homes, review their tax returns…

I’ve paid match-makers. I’ve been in between family feuds….

My job can be wild. But mostly, it’s massively informative.

Basically, I’ve been behind the scenes of how Multi-Millionaires live for more than the last decade and I want to pull back the curtains for you, because I want you to be wealthy yourself.

Here are 5 Mindset Habits That Millionaires Use to Build (and Keep) Real Wealth

MINDSET HABIT #1: WEALTHY PEOPLE IDENTIFY AS WEALTHY TO THEIR CORE

They say that a key to manifestation is shifting our identity to your highest self – basically, pretend that you are the person that already has what you want.

Identifying as someone you want to be tricks your brain into becoming it.

Rich people love identifying as rich, so by assuming the identity of “I am rich” they are constantly re-manifesting wealth for themselves.

There have been times that my clients are low on cash, owing hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes, and bleeding money in their day to day expenses and I have never heard them slip into fear about money

I’ve had clients complain about bills or whine about taxes but none of my wealthiest clients have never voiced money scarcity fears. That is so outside of the rich identity.

MINDSET HABIT #2: WEALTHY PEOPLE TAKE UP SPACE

My multi-millionaire clients are not afraid to take up space.

I have one client who never calls me to talk for less than 20 minutes. They complain about every aspect of their life and give me way more information than I’d ever need.

They don’t ask “do you have time to talk?” or apologize for taking up my time.

taking up space

I’ve had clients text me at night, on holidays, on weekends – asking me professional questions. Do they apologize? No. Setting boundaries on replying is my job.

Their assumption is that their experience is important and their life matters – it’s not their responsibility to set boundaries for me around my energy. This is something that many of us could seriously take some notes on.

How many of us feel uncomfortable asking for what we really want? Or feel that being “go with the flow” or “easy” makes us more lovable?

I am FOR SURE guilty of this. But the sad truth is that shrinking to become easier is actually stemming in a scarcity mindset. We trick ourselves into thinking there isn’t enough space so let me shrink to accommodate others.

Rich people don’t shrink for others. They just don’t.

MINDSET HABIT #3: WEALTHY PEOPLE VALUE THEIR OWN TIME

This is one of my favorite wealthy mindset hacks ever. Multi-millionaires value their time.

The only thing you can never replenish is your time.

money mindset hack value your time

You can have 15 trillion dollars in the bank, but when your time’s up, it’s up.

DAMN, right? 😯

My wealthy clients seriously value their time. That’s one of the reasons they’re willing to pay me to manage their day to day finances. They don’t want to waste their precious time on it.

So what does this look like for us?

Don’t waste 20 minutes driving across your town to save $5 on gas – using those 20 minutes to rest, cook a healthy meal, or spend time with family should be worth more than $5 to you.

Your time and energy can never be replenished. Don’t spend your time to save small amounts of money. ✨

And once you do have a little extra money, consider outsourcing tasks that can free up more of your time, then use that time to uplevel your life and take care of yourself…

MINDSET HABIT #4: WEALTHY PEOPLE INVEST IN A GOOD TEAM

Every single wealthy person I’ve ever worked for has been surrounded by a trusted team of professionals who make their life run smoothly.

If I told you that you should have a tax accountant or an estate attorney you might laugh, right?

But if you are seriously looking to uplevel your wealth, you are going to get to a point where you must invest in paying services to those professionals. Wealthy people do not try to navigate their wealth on their own.

millionaire mindset hack having a good professional team

My clients have tax accountants, personal accountants (like me), estate attorneys, trusted bankers, investment advisors (usually at least 2 or 3 at different brokerage houses), property managers, concierge doctors, etc.

Does it sound excessive? Maybe, but —rich people know that a good professional saves them not only time/energy, but also money.

I once discovered such a huge error on one of my client’s tax return (prepared by someone else) that I saved my clients enough money to basically pay for my own fees for over two years. 😎

One year a different client gave me a Christmas bonus with a note that said “Thank you Bri, it always seems like you pay for yourself with all of the errors you find for me”.

New Levels = New Devils. If you want riches, you are going to have to pay for professionals who will help you manage those riches.

If you want to start a profitable side hustle, you may have to start paying a professional to set up your business or file your tax return.

As you gain wealth, you may have to invest in an attorney to make you a living trust.

Start familiarizing yourself with the ideas that as you build wealth, you are going to have to invest in a good team to help you maintain it and help it grow even more.

MINDSET HACK #5: WEALTHLY LIVE WITHIN THEIR MEANS

Of all the wealthy people I’ve ever worked for, not a single one of them carried credit card debt.

Every single one of my clients pay off their credit cards in full, every single month.

You cannot build, maintain, or grow wealth when you are bleeding 24%+ on credit card interest.

If you are carrying credit card debt – no shame – the industry basically traps you into spending with your cards. But it separates us from the rich.

Because I am telling you that you cannot be rich and carry consistent credit card debt.

If you can, cut them up. If you can’t, budget the heck out of your life, cut expenses and get yourself free of credit card debt ASAP.

Becoming Rich is a Practice

There is a reason that “old money” lasts – when your parents are rich, you grow up knowing exactly how to think and behave.

Those of us who are still in the stage of trying to grow wealth and riches have to actively learn how to live life like the rich.

As I said before, new levels, new devils. We have to start shifting our identity – the way we think and act – to be more in line with the version of us who are millionaires.
